Lip Care Must Haves (Hydration)

My lips have been as dry and cracked as the earth’s crust. That sounds gross, I know, but truly, they’re not having a fun time this winter!

If you’re like me, on the dehydrated dragon boat, as I like to call it, these products might help. They all have different purposes so you can pick and choose which suit your fancy (or use all of ’em, as I do).

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (CAD 24.00)

This product has been a game changer! I cannot even tell you (well, obviously I’m going to try) the difference it’s made. In a nutshell, I can go to bed with dry, flakey lips, and I’ll wake up with moisturized, plump lips, and all I have to do is slough off the dead skin with a washcloth. No more buffing the flakes away with a toothbrush for me!

As the product has a thick gel-creme texture, it comes with a handy-dandy teeny-weeny applicator. This makes it easy to apply and keeps the product very hygienic. It melts into the lips, coating them in a slightly thick comforting film. Don’t worry, it’s not sticky, and when your lips need a pick-me-up, it feels great!

Nuxe Reve de Miel (CAD 17.00)

I’ve talked about the Nuxe lip balm in more depth in this post. Tl;dr: it’s a thick (somewhat gritty) balm with a matte finish. It is perfect to wear under lipsticks or sleep in as it provides long term hydration throughout the day or night.

Elizabeth Arden 8hr Cream (CAD 29.00) –> buy it for less at TJX stores

This is a cult product for a reason. I’m sure others will say it has an obnoxious scent but I find it quite reminiscent of my childhood for some reason, and therefore it is comforting. It’s a natural, herbal fragrance. I’ve talked about its usefulness here. To sum it up though, it’s a thick ointment that can be used on dryness or in makeup looks – as a gloss on the lids, wet highlight on the cheeks and shine on the lips.

Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel (CAD 5.00)

This is my most surprising, most repurchased beauty aid. It’s supposed to be an after-bath oil to moisturize the body. However, I use it to protect my lips from winter winds and dryness. It’s also a great makeup remover in a pinch! It makes my lips feel comfortable and adds a glossy shine, amongst its many other capabilities.
