China: Through the Looking Glass @ The Met | #ChinaLookingGlass

Whilst I was in New York, I completely fell in love with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is huuuuuuuge. I went there three times during the week and still did not manage to see everything. My favourite exhibit by far though (no offence to all the great painters and sculptors), was the new fashion exhibit in the costume wing, entitled China: Through the Looking Glass.

It was the perfect blend of fashion and history and all the pieces on display were pure sartorial genius. It’s unbelievable to see how much inspiration designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano, Cristobal Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld and others took from Chinese/Oriental culture. The results are magnificent and the pictures that I am showing you here in no way do them justice. Nevertheless, have a look!
